Linda Gough Design is a small design studio located on the Nature Coast of Florida. The Nature Coast is a region along the Florida Gulf Coast. It is characterized by its largely undeveloped, Old Florida feel, featuring spring-fed rivers, forests, and abundant wildlife.

Mark Twain Lives Again in Angels Camp
In the spring of 2010, I had the privilege of designing an exhibit for the Angels Camp Museum in Angels Camp, California, celebrating one of the town's most famous visitors and literary legends, Mark Twain. The exhibit was an ambitious blend of history, storytelling, and design, featuring large-format canvas panels mounted with magnets onto custom-built metal display walls, along with handcrafted credenzas and interpretive displays.
As with many museum projects, the final days before opening were a whirlwind. On the morning of May 7, 2010, we had just received a shipment of exhibit panels that were essential to completing the installation. I rushed to the museum, tools and materials in hand, ready to finish mounting the graphics and bring the exhibit to life.
What I didn't expect was that a television crew from KCRA News in Sacramento would be there documenting the final preparations. Cameras rolled as we hurriedly unpacked panels, positioned displays, and attached the magnetic canvas graphics to the exhibit walls. The museum was buzzing with the energy that only exists in those last moments before a public unveiling.
The news segment, titled Mark Twain Lives Again in Angels Camp, captured more than just the exhibit itself—it captured the excitement, craftsmanship, and dedication that go into transforming history into an experience. Watching the cameras follow our installation work, I realized that the story wasn't just about Mark Twain returning to Angels Camp; it was also about the people working behind the scenes to make that history come alive for a new generation.
More than fifteen years later, I still remember the feeling of standing in that museum, surrounded by freshly installed panels and television cameras, watching months of design work finally become a reality. For a brief moment on that May morning in 2010, Mark Twain truly did live again in Angels Camp.
